I’ve been working on the inside of social care nonprofits since 1995, dedicated to causes like yours to create conditions for people to thrive. In 2020 I founded Training Grounds with the mission to empower leaders to create positive change in themselves and their organizations so they can be a force for social and environmental good.
I believe that quality leadership development is deeply relational and transformational. Great leaders are self-aware, connect authentically, and empower those around them.
Yet, I see well-meaning organizations trying to get results from irregular one-and-done training or corporate management books and seminars that place self-interest over social justice and collective well-being. And too often promoting their best people while leaving them on their own to translate leadership principles into their day-to-day experience. All things that just don’t resonate with our stated values.
That’s why I created the Trauma-Informed Leadership Certificate Program. It’s built on a body of work from 30+ years of experience, a graduate degree in organizational leadership, training in equity-centered coaching, and invaluable feedback from hundreds of on-the-ground leaders who have told me what works and what doesn’t.
The program provides a psychologically safe, effective space to model and train leaders in a way that resonates with values of care and respect. Without draining the time or energy they need for day-to-day work responsibilities.
Drawing from elements of personal development in a social context, organizational psychology, and interpersonal dynamics, it provides an unmatched focus that equips leaders to bring their best and work better together.
With a commitment to personalized support, I’ve gained the trust of organizations working with the most urgent needs in their communities, including those in behavioral health care, school-based mental health, juvenile justice, supportive housing, substance abuse recovery, advocacy, and equity-centered work. I’m here for those serving the most vulnerable and urgent human needs. Places where working close to trauma can affect the workforce.
